On Looking
By Alexandra Horowitz
On Looking is a fascinating book on walks in the city and the myriad of wonders that can be discovered. Each chapter, the author takes a walk with someone from a particular field or with a particular view of the world, and writes lucidly about what she learns.
One chapter, she walks with an etymologist and we learn about the wonderful— and sometimes scary— world of bugs; another time, she sees how some people with blindness “see” the world.
This is a compelling, readable and eye-opening look at the world around us. I came away from this book with a fresh way of looking at the world and a renewed appreciation of our Maker’s creation.1

Thanks for reading!
While Alexandra Horowitz writes from a secular worldview, it is still a fascinating window into God’s creation.

Sounds so good!
This sounds fascinating, especially the part about the entomologist---I considered becoming an entomologist quite seriously at one point, so that would be interesting to read about. Great review!
