Ballet Shoes
By Noel Streatfeild
A quiet classic about dance and cosy love. Penguin Classics has a lovely cover, with gold and a pretty illustration.
There’s a simple charm to the story, and girls can see themselves in the story— as either responsible Pauline, practical Petrova, or talented Posy. Gentle, funny, and a little sad at times, this is a book for girls and for those who are still girls at heart.
And, for those who have read this before— do you think Pauline should have made that sacrifice for Posy at the end of the book? Let me know in the comments!

I adore this book! It holds so much happy nostalgia for me, as I read and re-read it many times as a youngster. The characters especially are so easy to fall in love with! Have you read any others in the series? I've read a few but this one was always a far favorite.
Oh man, I haven’t read the book but I saw the movie a few years ago! I didn’t know at the time that it was based on a book. I don’t remember too much of it, so I’ll have to read the book now!
